Pilgrim’s Picks for October 3

Today was the first post-summer day where my office felt a little "chilly." I’m hoping for a quick rebound in temperatures. While I go outside and look for the sun, you can enjoy these Picks.

Great topics. It’ll be interesting to see if Google allows DMOZ to pass link juice.

What’s my cut? Or do I get sold with the blog?

    That’s so wrong. ;)

Wow that is a lot of money for the blog. That guy must be really happy that he gets all the money to himself, I wonder what he will do with it

I used a few directories when I was first starting out, but haven’t really touched them in a few months. I’ve been searching for better ways of bringing targeted readers to my site, and directories simply do not bring actual traffic - only links.

    G trends rocks …
They might have limited access for public information in regional languages tohugh

Google trends does indeed rock but it is sad to see that hackers are trying to exploit it. I’ve got Phishing alerts with NIS09, would be interested to see if any fakes get picked up.

Rand hits branding square on the noggin. I so wish more people would “get it”

let’s face it, very few directories offer real value, and very few potential customers actually trawl through them!

Thanks for the links; they are useful as usual. Especially I liked the blog sold for $15million. Is that possible?

A lot of blogs do it to get good rankings and get a lot of traffic to their blogs rather than to hack or spread viruses. You should still use an antivirus program like AVG to keep yourself safe.

I think removing the handy dictionary links by Google is not a reason to be worry. As the matter of fact directories do not lead to actual traffic. But Thanks for the links and interesting info.
